Peshtera is a town having a number of landmarks worth exploring. It brags its historic past and various interesting sites are located nearby.
The town’s history museum preserves over 8000 exhibition items. You might also like having a walk in the town park called Zhelezniat Grad (the iron city). Koupena preserve, a site under UNESCO protection, is located nearby.
Snezhanka cave is situated five km away from Peshtera.
The cave has been named after one of its formations. In color and shape it resembles Snow White (Snezhanka is Snow White in Bulgarian).
Once done exploring the region of Peshtera, you can head to the town of Batak.
Batak’s history museum has a vast collection, as well. It was created back in 1956.
Take a look at the church-ossuary St. Nedelia. Hundreds of people sought shelter there during the April Uprising but their lives were not spared.
Balinova house is another interesting site in the town. It houses Batak’s ethnographic collection.
