Oborishte Region
The historic region called Oborishte is situated 8 km away from Panagyurishiste. The first Bulgarian national assembly gathered there between April 14 and 16 1876 under the guidance of revolutionary Georgi Benkovski. During the assembly, revolutionaries decided on the so called April uprising.
Today the area hosts a monument and the name of all assembly participants have been carved in the stone. Each year on May 1 and 2, Bulgarians honor revolutionaries in this area.
Raina Kniaginia’s Memorial House
Raina Kniaginia’s memorial house is one of the most visited museums in the country. It is situated in Panagyurishiste. The house itself is very old. It now hosts an exposition, telling the story of the teacher, who turned into a revolutionary.
Raina herself has been buried in the yard of her house.
