One major challenge for all nature, mountain and hiking lovers is reaching Botev peak.
Botev is the highest Stara Planina Mountain peak and reaches the impressive 2376 m. It ranks third in Bulgaria after Mousala and Vihren. Several paths lead to the peak, yet Botev is hardly accessible and the trip will last an entire day.
A meteorological station and a TV tower were set up at the peak. The tower provides TV and radio signal for nearly half of the Bulgarian territory.
Making the effort to reach the peak is worth it, since during fair weather, Botev offers amazing view.
The region is famous for other natural landmarks. Bulgaria’s biggest waterfall, Raiskoto Pruskalo, is situated nearby. Its 124 m make it the tallest waterfall on the Balkans, as well. Raiskite Skali rock phenomenon and Kaloferskoto Pruskalo waterfall are also situated in the area.
Botev peak is part of the Kom-Emine march. The most popular path to the peak starts in Kalofer and passes through Rai hut. You will pass through several beautiful regions and will get a view of Raiskoto Pruskalo.
