The peak of Botev is the highest one in Stara Planina Mountain. It is 2376 m high. It also happens to be one of the most difficult peaks to conquer in the country. To reach Botev, you will need an entire day.
One unique feature of the region is the climate that has contributed to the richness of nature. A number of species that are endangered on a global scale live there. Some of the species can only be seen in this region.
The slopes below Botev peak host the biggest waterfall in Bulgaria, Raiskoto Pruskalo. Its height is 124 m. Kaloferskoto Pryskalo, another big waterfall, is also located in the region. Raiskite Skali and the region Rayat are another very beautiful place in the area.
Botev itself is a wide pastureland. A meteorological station and a television tower have been set up there. The tower provides radio and TV signal for almost half of the territory of Bulgaria.
Locals say that during fair weather the peak offers incredible view in all directions. Yet, fair weather here is a rare phenomenon. Botev peak is part of the route from the peak of Kom to the cape of Emine.
