Nature is timeless and majestic. Cliffs change their form, riverbeds shift. But the feeling of beauty and endlessness persists.
Mountain nature with its harshness makes people feel tiny bits of something grand, too ephemeral to leave behind a notable trace. The Buynovo gorge is a demonstration of this natural grandness.
The gorge is located in the Western Rhodope region, between the villages of Yagodina and Teshel. It is situated along the shores of the Buynovska River.
Parallel to it runs the Trigrad gorge, even more impressive with its cliffs.
Buynovska River can be followed either via an eco path or the road to Teshel.
The narrowest point of the gorge is called Vuclhi Skok (wolf jump). At this spot, the cliffs from the two sides of the gorge almost touch each other at height of three to four m above the road.
A cave is situated above this natural phenomenon. It happens to be one of the many in the region and is much less famous than the Yagodinska cave, Diavolskoto Gurlo (the devil’s throat) and Haramiyska cave. All of them are nearby.
Walking from Yagoudina to Teshel takes up to two hours. Magnificent nature can be observed throughout the trip.
The Buynovo gorge was named natural landmark in 1972.
