The walk takes you deep in the heart of national park Tsentralen Balkan (the central part of Stara Planina mountain). It lasts nearly one hour.
Byaka Reka eco path starts to the northwest of the town of Kalofer. The starting point is close to the Kalofer monastery. The path follows the gorge of Byala river. To reach the path from Sofia or Plovdiv, you will have to travel 151 or 66 km respectively.
It is best to visit the region from March to October. Whenever the weather is inappropriate, the path becomes temporarily unavailable. Groups of 15 start the walk every 30 minutes. This is yet another precaution measure.
The eco path takes you through mountain areas at altitude varying from 570 to 630 m. Its length is 1.83 km.
You will see Byala Reka bivouac. From there, the path leads to Ray cabin. Wooden bridges will let you cross over the river several times. Information plates tell more about the animal and plant species in the part.
Tourists can see 11 unique for the region plants. Some of the animals living there include bears, wolves, wild goats and eagles.
