Bulgaria Inside

All of us know where Bulgaria’s famous waterfalls are located. Yet, some small pearls of nature remain hidden from the general audience. One such lovely little waterfall is hidden deep in the heart of Strandzha Mountain, about a kilometer away from the village of Stoilovo.

Dokouzak waterfall is located down the flow of a river carrying the same name. The river originates from nine springs, which actually give it the name Dokouzak (the word is Turkish and means nine springs). Dokouzak is a small and beautiful waterfall that is bound to captivate you. It forms a small lake. There, you can enjoy the clean and cold water, the peacefulness and beauty of nature.

Several shelters, benches and a fireplace have been set up near the waterfall. A camping space is also located nearby.

Dokouzak area, or the region surrounded the river, has been named a preserve back in 1991. The preserve was created to protect a unique for Bulgaria type of tea, which is growing only there.

If you decide to visit the area, you have to know that the waterfall is situated about a kilometer away from the village of Stoilovo and 83 km away from the coastal city of Bourgas.
