Gavril Hlutev, better known as Georgi Benkovski, is a public figure that every present-day Bulgarian knows. His revolutionary activities played key role in the struggle for Bulgarian independence.
Koprivshtitsa is the town that hosts Benkovski’s house museum. The house itself deserves a look at for its typical architecture. All made of wood, the house was constructed in 1831.
One of the most unique artifacts preserved since the days of the April uprising can be seen there. Bekovski’s rifle can be seen there today.
To visit the museum, go to Benkovski Street. In 1976, a monument honoring the revolutionary was placed near the house.
