Golf is a relatively young sport and lacks traditions in Bulgaria. On a global scale, golf has turned into one of the most practiced sports. It has several advantages. Both women and men can practice it, athletic body structure and past experience are unnecessary. One of the setbacks is the expensive equipment.

Only few golf courses function in Bulgaria but since interest is growing, many projects will be launched in the coming years. Three quality courses function in Sofia, Ihtiman and Sliven.

Golf projects near the winter resort of Bansko are to add diversity to the tourism services that the town offers.

The seaside will have several golf courses. Construction of two courses will take place near Kaliakra cape and will offer an alternative to sunbathing. Another course will be constructed near Primorsko. A course is to start functioning near the town of Razgrad.

If all of these projects are executed properly, Bulgaria might soon appear on the map as an attractive golf destination. The country has all the conditions needed to offer better service than many European countries.
