The village of Govedartsi is located in the beginning of Rila National Park. It follows the flow of Cherni Iskur River and the distance from Sofia to the village is 70km.
Over the years, Govedartsi’s popularity as rural tourism destination grew. The number of hotels and guest houses increased, as well as the opportunities to rent a villa.
Govedartsi keeps evidence of the past just as many other villages in the region. Thracians founded the village. Apart from ancient remains, Govedartsi treasures historic and cultural monuments. Most of these landmarks can be seen in the regions named Tapankovitsa, Mechkaritsa and Izvorovo.
Use Govedartsi as your start point o the way to Maliovitsa peak. Other paths lead to the Seven Rila Lakes, Strashnoto lake and few mountain huts.
The ski resort of Borovets is also situated near Govedartsi. Go there, if you happen to be a fan of winter sports. This strategic location, as well as the beautiful nature, has turned Govedartsi into a popular tourism spot.
