Kailuka park is one of the favorite walk and rest spots in Pleven, a peaceful place in the middle of centuries-old forests. The park is situated south of Pleven in the valley of Touchenitsa River.
A beautiful gorge was turned into the present-day park in 1946. Pleven’s entire society took active part in setting up the park. Improvements continued being implemented in the next 25 years. Today, the park combines relaxation and entertainment opportunities.
Steep cliffs, over 20 m in height, are used by climbers who practice there their hobby. The region features various plant and animal species, some of which unique for Bulgaria and the Balkan region.
The remains of Roman fortress Storgozia are situated in the same region. Pleven’s zoo can also be seen there. The complex features other facilities like swimming pools, tennis courts, a lake and children playgrounds.
If you get hungry while walking, you can enjoy the services of three restaurants and several fast food spots.
