Two of the most renowned Bulgarians were born near the river in the central part of Koprivshtitsa. The house of Liuben and Petko Karavelovi has now been turned into a musem.
A winter house, summer house and an agriculture edifice have been positioned in the large yard. Such big complex signified the prosperity of the family. The great revolutionary and poet Liuben Karavelov planted a pear tree in the yard in 1854.
Most treasured among the museum collection is the printing press, used by Luben Karavelov for printing his newspapers Freedom and Independence. The collection also includes many personal belongings of the great revolutionist.
The other part of the museum is dedicated to Petko Karavelov – a public figure, Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and one of the constructors of modern Bulgaria.
