The village of Orehovo was founded 300 years ago over the remains of an ancient Roman settlement. It is situated in the western Rhodope Mountains region, 25 km away from the town of Chepelare.
Diversity of landmarks can be seen in the region of Orehovo. Skakaloto, the second biggest waterfall in Bulgaria, is situated near the village. An old Roman road also passes close to Orehovo.
A rock phenomenon, called Choudnite Mostove (the wonder bridges) is also located nearby. This natural rock bridge formed over a cave. For thousands of years, a river flowed there, carving the cave’s walls and part of the ceiling. After the water withdrew, two massive arches remained, resembling a natural bridge.
Orehovo has its tourism information desk that provides information about accommodation, landmarks in the region and tracks.
One of the biggest local attractions is the village’s folk band. You will enjoy their performance of Rhodope music and authentic Bulgarian costumes.
