Shipkovo is one of the oldest balneological resorts in Bulgaria. The spa center is situated two km away from the village. The mineral water from the local springs is beneficial for those suffering liver, kidney and digestive disorders.
The village is located 20 km away from the mountain town of Troyan. The altitude is 690 m, and the population is approximately 1100 people. Another village in the region popular with its rural tourism opportunities is Ribaritsa.
Walks to various landmarks in the region are possible. Most of the attractions to be seen are located within Central Balkan National Park. Steneto and Kozya Stena preserves are only two such nature landmarks. You can also take a walk to the Troyan monastery, Glozhene monastery and Saeva Doupka cave.
Several paths lead to mountain huts. All of them are marked. If you are a keen mountaineer, you can organize a trip to the nearby Vassilyov peak.
Plenty of hotels and guest-houses function in Shipkovo. The nearby spa resort welcomes tourists constantly. Prices vary from 10 to 150 leva per night.
