Park museum general Skobelev was constructed between 1904 and 1907 on the battlefield itself.
During the third Pleven assault, this spot was the place where Skobelev’s soldiers took part in a fierce battle. Over 6500 people were killed and the place was named Murtva Dolina (death valley).
The remains of all killed soldiers were placed in nine mounds and an ossuary. Russian weapons from the war have also been positioned there.
Skobelev park is a peaceful oasis in the middle of busy Pleven with its beautiful alleys and greenery that surrounds visitors from all sides. Pleven Epopee Panorama, one of the town’s most important landmarks is situated there.
The park is open for visitors from 9 am to midday and from 1 pm to 6 pm during the summer and from 9 am to midday and from 12.30 pm to 5 pm during the winter. Its days off are Sunday and Monday.
