The Sliven district of Deli Balta hides inside the house in which Bulgarian poet Dobri Chintoulov has been living and working since 1886.
Brothers Ivan and Dobri Chintoulovi built the house in the 50s of the 19th century. The building appeared near the house of their father and carries typical architecture for the period. A wide cobblestone yard leads to the asymmetrical house with wooden porches.
In the 70s of the 20th century, the building underwent complete renovation and a museum collection was placed inside.
Visitors can examine photos and documents, alongside Chintoulov’s personal belongings. The interior of the house has been preserved in its original looks.
Books, schoolbooks and documents that belonged to Chintoulov have also been preserved.
Each year, the exposition hall witnesses an award ceremony. One artist gets the Dobri Chintoulov art and literature award on October 26, St. Dimitur’s day.
