Bulgaria’s oldest resort, St. Konstantin and Elena is located several kilometers north of the city of Varna.
The resort is still known sometimes under its socialist-era name, Drouzhba. Construction started in 1908 and since then the resort has been the spot that Bulgarian aristocrats preferred. The palace of Evksinograd is located there.
St. Konstantin and Elena carries the name of a small chapel. It was constructed as a part of a monastery honoring emperor Constantine and his mother Helena.
Ancient aristocrats from the Roman and Byzantine empires traveled to the spot, well-known for its healing mineral springs. One of these springs flows into the sea and has turned nowadays into one of the resort’s biggest attractions.
Accommodation options include hotels and private villas. The resort’s infrastructure is in good condition and roads connect it to Varna and the nearby resorts. All these offer various entertainment options to tourists among which restaurants, shops and cafés. There are also pharmacies and a police office in case you need such.
