Zahari Stoyanov’s Memorial House
Zahari Stoyanov’s wife Anastasia Obretenova purchased this house after the death of her husband. The house is situated in Rousse, on 12 Pridounavski boulevard.
Many personal belongings of the writer and revolutionary, as well as objects that belonged to the family, have been put on display there. The collection tells much about Bulgarian revolutionary struggles for national and religious independence.
Some items found in Stoyanov’s tomb in 1978 have also been placed in the museum.
The museum opened doors on March 3 1978, to honor 100 years since Bulgaria’s liberation. It works each day apart from Saturday and Sunday from 8.30 am to midday and from 1 pm to 5.30 pm.
Pantheon of National Revival Heroes
The pantheon was created in 1978 to honor 100 years since Bulgaria’s liberation. It is situated in the old Rousse graveyard that has been turned into a revival heroes park and has been constructed over the remains of Vsi Svetii church.
Rousse was selected as the pantheon’s location, since many brave Bulgarians from the region died in liberation struggles. The remains of 453 revolutionaries rest there.
The pantheon is open each day from 9 am to midday and from 1 pm to 5.30 pm.
