History Museum
Yambol’s history museum has nearly 100 000 exhibition items that have been collected over the past 100 years. The first collection was presented in 1886 and the museum exists as a separate facility since 1953.
Foreign funding was used so that the museum got computer technology and all of its collections were described and categorized in online database.
The museum has is restoration and conservation studio.
New items are added to the collections each day. Many artifacts come from the ancient town of Kabile and the settlement mound in the village of Drama.
To visit the museum, go to 2 Bialo More street. It works each week day from 8 am to midday and from 1 pm to 5 pm. Saturday and Sunday visits require an appointment in advance.

Kabile Ancient Settlement
The remains of the ancient settlement of Kabile are situated eight km northwest of Yambol. They were named an architecture preserve in 1965 and research has been ongoing for the past 30 years.
A museum has been created to display the numerous artifacts discovered on the territory of the settlement. Many students who major in archaeology in Sofia University undergo trainings there.
Archaeologists believe that Kabile was a Thracian settlement and an important economic and religious center in the second millennium BC.
In the 45th year, Kabile became part of the Roman empire. During that period, the settlement gained military importance. Once Christianity was accepted, Kabile became a bishop’s center.
Kabile was destroyed in the 6th century. In the middle ages, a settlement was created over the ruins of the old one but was destroyed in the 14th century.
The preserve welcomes visitors each day from 9 am to 5 pm.
