The memorial house of Tsar Osvoboditel II in Pleven is situated in the house of Vatsovi family.
The house was constructed in the beginning of the Russo-Turkish War in 1877 and 1878. Its rich interior is typical for the revival period style.
On November 11 1877, the house welcomed Russian emperor Alexander II, right after Pleven’s liberation.
From December 12 to 22, the house served as the home of the first military governor of Pleven, general Skobelev.
The museum itself was created between 1904 and 1907. A beautiful park was created to surround the house. Russian batteries and sculptures of Russian and Romanian military commanders were placed there.
Tsar Osvoboditel II welcomes visitors from 9 am to midday and from 1 pm to 6 pm during the summer and from 9 am to midday and from 12.30 pm to 5 pm during the winter. Its days off are Sunday and Monday.
