Veliko Turnovo’s art gallery Boris Denev is one of the richest in the country. It is also one of the oldest state-owned galleries in Bulgaria.

The gallery opened doors in 1934. It preserves the works of famous Bulgarian painters and traces the evolution of art in the country.

Works have been divided in three sections, namely painting, black and white drawings and sculptures. The exhibition area is 850 sq m and the total number of artworks displayed in the halls is 5530. Visitors can enjoy the paintings of Vladimir Dimitrov-Maistora, Boris Denev and Nikola Tanev.

The first museum floor houses the collection Veliko Turnovo through the eyes of the artist. The collection is renewed periodically. The second floor is used for other paintings and visiting exhibitions.

Veliko Turnovo’s art gallery is situated in the very heart of the city and reveals breath-taking view of the region. Asenevtsi monument is situated near the gallery. It was constructed in 1985 to commemorate 800 years since the rebellion organized by brothers Asen and Petur.

Boris Denev art gallery is situated in Asenevtsi park and welcomes visitors each day apart from Monday, from 10 am to 6 pm.
