Kurdzhali
The town of Kurdzhali is situated in the eastern part of the Rhodope Mountains. Little is known of its history but according to scientists it appeared as a settlers’ town. Turkish immigrants decided to live there after their conquest over Bulgarian lands. Kurdzhali’s name probably came from the name of the Turkish warrior Kyrdzha Ali, who got the admiration and support of people. Destination of the month: Stara Planina
Stara Planina is a European Mountain chain located on the Balkan peninsula. It stretches from eastern Serbia to the Black Sea coast. Most of the mountain is located on the territory of Bulgaria. Stara Planina separates the country in two parts - northern and southern. Stara Planina's highest peak is Botev with its 2376 m. The mountain offers diverse tourism opportunities.
