A yacht exhibition opened in Varna, presenting over 50 types of luxury boats. Potential buyers can test 35 of them, Monitor daily reported.
The most expensive yacht costs seven million euro. Event organizer Ivailo Zheglov said that Bulgarian clients are able to spend between 200 000 and 300 000 euro on a boat.
Over the past year, yacht purchases in Bulgaria produced 30 million euro turnover. The increase this year is expected to reach 25 to 30 percent. Bulgarian boats are produced as well and their value is significantly lower, no more than 100 000 euro.
According to organizers, yacht tourism in Bulgaria faces a serious problem that is the lack of a border checkpoint at Shabla and Tsarevo. All yachts willing to enter Bulgarian territory have to do so through Varna and Bourgas.
A project for the construction of 10 yacht harbors has been created. The harbors in Tsarevo, Ahtopol and Sozopol are to work year-round and the other will be seasonal.
