Archaeologists made a new finding in the region of the Veliki Preslav palace complex, Darik Radio reported.
Angel Konakliev found a collection of 50 silver coins. The discovery is unique since only bronze and golden coins were found in Veliki Preslav until now.
The coins date back to the 8th and 9th century. The image of Jesus appears on one side, together with the Latin writings dux (leader) and rex (king). The other side of the coin features the image of a ruler and a protector saint.
Apart from the coins, Konakliev found a seal that belonged to tsar Petur I. The writings on it are in Greek.
