June 26 is the final day of excavation works in the region of Veliko Turnovo, Darik Radio reported. Nikolai Ovcharov and Hitko Vachev worked with their teams nearly a month there. They focused on the remains of the church St. Ivan Rilski. During the works, they uncovered the church's foundations, a monastery complex and a necropolis.
The teams recently discovered a female ring from the 14th century. It is made of silver and covered in green stones. More than 300 coins dating from the 7th to the 17th century were discovered throughout the excavation works.
Other artifacts discovered include silver crosses, buttons, ceramics and parts of an icon. Archaeologists also found a grave from the 14th century which supposedly belongs to a boyar.
