Despite the mild March weather, all winter resorts in Bulgaria still feature snow that is thick enough to allow winter sports.
Winter 2006/2007 was snowless but the weather this year proved to be favorable for fans of skiing. According to the Mountain Rescue Service (http://pss.bglink.net), almost all tracks in Bansko, Borovets, Pamporovo and Vitosha function.
The snow coverage is sufficient to provide good skiing conditions. Yet, tourists are warned to be careful because of the avalanche danger.
Weather forecasts show that the skiing season will continue. In the coming week, Bulgaria is expecting colder weather and eventual snowfall in the mountains.
