Sunny Beach and the nearby coastal resorts were left with no electricity on Saturday, July 5, Dnevnik daily reported. Several hours without electricity caused slow or practically missing tourist service. Hotels reported of negative reactions among tourists.
Many tourists were disappointed and criticized openly local authorities for their failure to deal with the situation. Only few showed understanding.
Hotel owners expect the filing of complaints to tourism agencies. The lack of electricity caused various incidents like tourists stuck in elevators, lack of air conditioning and the inability of restaurants to prepare meals.
The incident ruined one tourism day. Electricity provider EVN explained that the problems resulted from the setting up of a new mobile station in the region.
