From July 24 to 31 the town of Sopot will host a joint Bulgarian-Russian paragliding contest. The local Shambala extreme sports center will host the event.
Competitors exceed 150 and come from various countries like Korea, France, Germany, Greece, Russia and Bulgaria.
Such international competition is to be hosted in Bulgaria, judge and chairperson of the competition Irina Ivanova said.
Sopot mayor Vesselin Lichev said that the activities of extreme sports clubs are very beneficial for the development of tourism in the municipality. According to unofficial statistics, Sopot is the third most preferred paragliding destination in the world after places in Spain and France.
Adrenaline extreme sports club plans to make such championships even more attractive. According to its representatives Sopot is suitable for the practice of various extreme sports like climbing and bungee jumping.
