A team of archaeologists working in the town of Sozopol discovered four graves that supposedly belonged to ancient witches, Sega daily reported.

Archaeologists made the conclusion after they discovered intriguing items in the graves. One of the graves contained magical objects, make up, mirrors and a fragrance box.

The graves date back to the 5th – 4th centuries BC. Excavation works show that medicine in the ancient town was quite advances. Archaeologists said that the graves belonged to women who used alternative medical practices.

Currently archaeologists are exploring plots under private ownership that are to undergo construction works soon.
