Danube Bridge 2 construction starts in April
Construction of Danube Bridge 2, connecting the Bulgarian town of Vidin to the Romanian Kalafat, will end by 2010, Transport Minister Petar Moutafchiev said after a meeting with Vidin mayor Roumen Vidov.

Work will begin in April, after delays related to six properties on the territory of the project, Monitor daily reported. Project execution costs 236 million euro and the Spanish FCC Construccion  is responsible for construction works.

The bridge will have a four-lane road and a railroad. A cargo station will be set up as well and the Vidin train station will be modernized.

The connection between Vidin and Kalafat is of strategic importance for transportation in Europe.
