Mechi Chal complex’s construction begins near Bulgaria’s Chepelare
The first sod of the sports and tourism complex Mechi Chal near the town of Chepelare was made on Saturday, July 5. Transport Minister Petar Moutafchiev officially launched the project, Bulgarski Faktor (Bulgarian factor) reported.

As we already reported, the project is worth 50 million euro and will be the biggest tourism project in Bulgaria to be executed through public-private partnership. Moutafchiev said that the construction of Mechi Chal will combine modern tourism facilities with nature preservation.

In connection to the project, Plovdiv Airport will undergo modernization. The airport will service most of the tourists to visit the region. Part of the investment will be used for improvement of road infrastructure.

Mechi Chal project envisions the renovation of existing lifts and the construction of a new one, covering 2.7 km of length. Artificial snow equipment will also be purchased.
