During the first three months of the year, Bulgaria saw a 20 percent increase in the number of foreign visitors, head of the State Agency for Tourism (SAT) Anelia Kroushkova said as quoted by news.ibox.bg.
Tourism revenue for the first quarter totals 291 million euro. If the tendency is maintained, the annual increase in foreign visits will be eight percent, Kroushkova said. The quality of service and the lack of staff still affect the tourism sector negatively.
Kroushkova said that tourists from the Middle and Far East also show higher interest in Bulgaria. More visits are expected from Iran, China, Japan and Korea. Monitor daily reported that the number of Czech visitors is also to go up.
Head of the Bulgarian hotel and restaurant association Blagoi Ragin said that the lack of qualified employees can be dealt with through the import of workhand from China and Vietnam. Another option is the use of EU funds for prequalification.
