More than a million leva will be invested in the expansion of Varna's yacht harbor, expert.bg reported. The renovation works received funding from the harbor itself and Varna's municipal council chairperson Borislav Goutsanov will monitor all activities.
The pier wall will be elongated by 40 m, an investment of 200 000 leva. A kapok bridge, similar to the one in St. Vlas has already been purchased for 150 000 leva. These modifications will increase the space and the harbor will be able to host twice as many large yachts. In addition, all boats will have access to clean water, electricity and internet.
Free parking will be available and two new restaurants will open doors in place of the old Morska Sirena restaurant.
Renovation works are connected to the fact that Bulgaria will host an international yachting championship starting August 1. Next year, Varna will host a European championship and another international event is scheduled for 2010.
