A tiny mountain town hides in the folds between Stara Planina and Sredna Gora. Klisoura’s name is derived exactly from its geographic location in the valley between the two mountains.

Klisoura is situated 35 km away from Karlovo, 25 km away from Koprivshtitsa and 105 km away from Sofia. Its population is only 1800 people. The location ensures wonderful climate – cool summers and mild winters.

The town gained popularity because of the heroic performance of its residents in the April Uprising of 1876. As a result of the rebellion, the town was almost entirely burned down.

Most of Klisoura’s landmarks tell exactly of this uprising. Zli Dol region is situated few kilometers away from the town. A battle between locals and Ottoman soldiers took place there.

Locals are also proud of their potato production. The town hosts one of a kind potato museum....
