Bourgas History Museum

A building constructed in 1901 houses the Bourgas history museum. The collection presents society, economy and culture from the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th.

The ground floor has been turned into a crypt that protects many Triavna school icons. Some authentic revival-period books are also protected there.

Photos present the old Bourgas on the second museum floor. Together with documents, the pictures present the evolution of the city and its transformation into important harbor and trade center.

The opening of the first school and the creation of the first church in the city can also be witnessed through the pictures and documents.

Authentic photos present the cultural development of the city in this period, as well. A number of well-known actors performed in Bourgas at the time.

The events and individuals involved in national liberation struggles have also found their place in the museum collection.

European fine arts from the 18th and 19th centuries are presented on the third floor. Original glass, porcelain and bronze works of art have been displayed.

The history museum is situated on 31 Lermontov street and is open for visits each week day from 10 am to 7 pm and from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturdays.
